Our Story

Stubbs Farm is a small family farm in Central Texas. We raise pasture-raised chickens on open grass, feed them 100% organic, soy-free, and corn-free feed, and sell direct to the people who eat the birds.

No middlemen. No mystery meat. You know who raised it.

How it started

We didn’t grow up farming. We chose it.

After years of reading labels and still not trusting the package, we realized the only way to feed our own family with confidence was to raise the animals ourselves. We unboxed our first broiler chicks with a homemade brooder, a feeder, a waterer, and a lot of determination.

One small flock turned into a bigger pasture. Neighbors asked if they could buy a few birds. Then a few more.

The conviction underneath it is simple: food should come from farmers, not factories. This isn’t a clean-food empire. It’s a working farm, and the extra work is the point.

How we raise the birds

Chickens live outside and move to fresh grass every day. They scratch, forage, and act like chickens. The pasture gets a rest instead of a beating.

What they don’t eat matters as much as what they do. Feed is 100% organic, soy-free, and corn-free — from hatch to harvest. No pesticides. No chemicals. No vaccines. No fillers we wouldn’t put on our own kids’ plates.

That’s uncommon. It costs more. It’s also why the meat tastes like chicken and why you can trace the story back to this farm.

Direct from the farm

We sell batch by batch, by pre-order. You pick your cuts, we process, you pick up.

  • Stubbs Farm (Leander / Liberty Hill) — the farm itself. Fresh and frozen. Whole birds, cuts, extras, and eggs when we have them.

Fresh is a short window right after processing, and it stays at the farm. Frozen holds longer and can be ordered any time. Pickup windows are on each product. If the timing is tight, message us before you order.

What we offer

Whole birds, breasts, thighs, drumsticks, wings, quarters, plus extras: feet, livers, hearts, and bones for broth. Farm eggs when the hens are laying.

Availability changes with the batch. What’s on the site is what’s actually for sale.

FAQ

What does corn-free and soy-free actually mean?
The birds never get corn or soy. We use a specialty organic feed that replaces those ingredients entirely. That matters for allergies, sensitivities, and anyone who wants a short ingredient list they can believe.

What’s the difference between fresh and frozen?
Fresh is processed and picked up the same week, farm only. Frozen is processed and held so you can pick up on a more flexible schedule at the farm or Mother Acres.

How do pre-orders work?
We raise birds in batches. When a pre-order is open, choose your cuts and quantities, check out, and we’ll have the order ready at your location on the scheduled date.

Can I visit the farm?
It’s a working farm, so visits are by arrangement. Use the contact page. If you want to see how the birds live, we’ll find a time.
